Connahs Quay fell behind after 20 minutes of a lackluster half when Barry Town’s Ieuan Owen provided a glancing touch to beat goalkeeper Kit Margetson at his near post.

At half-time, Nomads brought on their most dangerous attacking threats in Rhys Hughes and Callum West, allowing Noah Edwards to drop deeper after occupying an attacking midfielder position in the first half.

“I think the manager John Disney has shown a lot of faith in me this season, I don’t mind where I play as long as I’m contributing to the team”, Edwards stated

The changes for the second half were revolutionary as Callum West equalised with another sensational solo goal before Noah Edwards dug the ball out off his feet to power into the bottom corner and gave the Flintshire side an important lead.

There would be no fightback for Barry Town as another substitute Rhys Hughes curled a beauty into the top corner to give Nomads their eighth league win in a row.

Noah Edwards went on to say, “We’re just happy that we kept going in that second half, we knew with them being a goal up that they were likely to sit behind the ball so very happy with the chances that we created.”

“At half-time, Disney’s main message was to increase the tempo and move the ball faster in forward areas, this was a vital message as we went out and produced this.”

Edwards, who is in his second spell at the club after rejoining in the summer of 2023 spoke about the grit and detremination that his team has showed in recent months, propelling them to within four points of leaders TNS.

“It’s important that we take each game at a time, we have our last game before the split on Friday night away at Caernarfon, so we’ll be going there with a spring in our step.”

“The hard work that we put into that second half is a testament to our character and belief but also the manager play’s a huge part in every team performance”, said Edwards.
